Alien Art attack!!!

Doing comic books is savage cause I get to meet  wicked array of artiest and discuss common interest's..one being of course the Aliens franchise. Someone I consider a good friend and even greater artiest is Anthony O' Neill. He done amazing work on two of Abandoned's books Nestor part 2 and Wire and Gas  and is set to do the same with our upcoming book Salvage which itself has a very Alien vibe. So check out his Xenomorph...its Savage.

Also we had another wonderful artiest doing work on Salvage. Aga Romanska is another big Alien fan..she even has her own pet chestburster....word of god! But check out her Alien Queen...every home should have one.

You can check out Aga's art work here.http://mangakapoof.deviantart.com/gallery/

Dark Horse Comics Review: Aliens: Labyrinth.

I'm going to start with my first ever and what many consider to be the best Aliens graphic novels from Dark horse. Aliens Labyrinth takes a bit of deviation from prior Aliens comics where it favors Horror over action in its story telling. A lot of the Aliens comics had the same theme as the 2nd movie...bugs vs Marines. This one while having a opening like that take a more horror and primal tone with its tale penned wonderfully buy Jim Woodring.

Col Dr Crespi a survivor of a bug hunt gone bad is sent into deep space to investigate research going on aboard the space station Innominata being conducted buy Dr Paul Chruch who himself survived a harrowing encounter with the xenomorph. The more Crespi investigates the more sinister things become leading to a chilling battle of wits with Church for the lives of all aboard the station.

Fellow Irish man Killian Plunkett line work and art is amazing and lend to the comics Mary Shelly/ David Cronenberg vib. You can easily find the Dark Horse reprint 2nd hand in most comic stores or if not its featured in Aliens Omnibus: Volume 3. Pick it up if you can its well worth the read.

Xenomorph caste 1:praetorian

While never featured in the movies this is one caste that has appeared a number of times in the comic and video game part of  the universe. Described as the Queen's royal guard Praetorians are smaller then queen but bigger then a warrior or drone. Their crown is like the Queens but their body is more like a warrior with the dorsal horns and back blade. They are savage in their attack and while they lack the ability to crawl on walls they make up for it in speed and in endurance. When combating a Praetorian in any a fight heavy weapons are suggested. If your a marine and have a M41A Pulse Rifle use the gernade launcher or if your a Predator use the spear or a fully charged Plasma Caster blast. Another idea about the Praetorian's is that they are juvanile queens and once their charge is dead the two guards must fight to the death and remaining beast will molt into the Queen.
Some have also suggested that the Predalien in AVP:R was a Praetorian with her odd shaped crown and giving she was able to implant chestbursters into host's although this might have just been an ability solely belonging to a Predalien.
Given the savage nature and unique design it would be cool to see such a beast in one of the future films.

Alien: Isolation

Right so after the mess up which was Aliens Colonial Marines ((which I kind liked..please do hurt me)) came out and got played Im guessing you lot were like fuck it I'm done with Alien games. I would not blame you ((But I did enjoy that fan service...I mean game)) but then the trailer for  Creative Assembly's game came out.

There's one Alien and you appear to have fuck all weapons and backup. Now the plot Im not too fond of because its seems to be suffering from the franchise current curse of story happenstance. Amanda Ripley has her own encounter with the very creature her mother fought...I'm hoping the plot will be good enough to make it work. There's too much happenstance...like in Aliens Colonial Marines Stasis Interrupted where Hick just about arrives on Fury to see Ripley dive into the molten pit or in Alien:Out of the Shadows Ripley encounters a crew of miners fighting more aliens on their ship years before the events of Aliens.Come on guys just because you can put tractor wheels on a minivan dosent mean you should. Stop shoving your stuff in to canon and if you do....make a prettier job of it.

Dark Horse Rebooting the AVP universe.

So I love the Dark Horse Aliens and Predator comics...I nearly have them all. So when I herd that they were going doing more after 2010 story arch of AVP: Three World war I was thrilled. Now not so much.
Not only are they rebooting it and ignoring everything that happened it the previous comic their also going to wedge Prometheus into the AVP universe. I still have issue's with that movie but to stick it into fray with AVP dosent sound at all good. Although the Art looks wicked and the story do tempt me some what I fear for overall amazing run of comic books. All I can do is wait and hope.

Why Alien3 is a good movie.

Okay I'm more then lightly going to get no level of stick for this but I like Alien3. For most people it's Alien and Aliens and thats it...which I'm cool with but I gotta tell you Alien3 get's way too much shit then it deserves. The release date was giving before a script was green lit. The sets we're being built and  before preproduction finished Vincent Ward left when his treatment was canned. David Fincher the fucking director walked out half way through the shoot. Yet after all that savaged production there remained a decent movie not fantastic flick but a fairly solid movie. Now their parts people bitch about such as the death of Newt and Hicks((oops not no more)) and having just one xeno.  But I think there some cool ideas, the music and the look of the film has this gothic tone to it, There's some wicked casting choices all way round..The likes of Charles S. Dutton , Charles Dance, Brian Glover are perfect in their roles.
The Runner Alien was wicked and added somthing new to the Xenomorph in that what ever its host attributes are it takes on. So it came from a Dog/Ox(uncut edition) it prefers a quadrupedal stance and is more savage in it's attacks on the prisoners.

For all its flaws and it does have a few Alien3 is worth a look and while people say its not a pretty movie what I'd say to them is Yeahe I fucking know because its an Alien movie...used future remember. It captures the universe of the xeno and Weylend Yutani perfectly. So before you pass judgement watch the flick...the uncut if you got it.

Forget him.....He's gone!

Okay if your a fan of the franchise you may know of these but if not here some actors who were supposed to be in the Alien movies but for one reason or another had to be replaced.

Jon Finch as Kane
Early on in the shooting of Alien Jon finch was cast as the part of Kane however as the shooting went on the poor guy got sicker and sicker. Well into the shooting Scott decided that for the sake of the actors health he couldn't remain on set in his condition so the part was recast with John Hurt.

James Remar as Hicks
The Dexter star was cast as Hicks and one has to wonder would he have been the soft Spoken marine we all know and love today. Well we'll never know because Remar at the time had issue with substance abuse and even blew the roof off the set with a shotgun at which point big Jim had to show him the door and in stepped Michael Biehn.
