Game over man review: The Thing

So while the Dark Horse comics do a fair enough job of giving a fair go at a Thing sequel but for me the game does the best job at it.
Released in 2002 for PS2, Xbox and PC the game was a combination of third person survival horror mixed with team based combat.
You play captain Blake and his team is sent of investigate what happened at Outpost 31 and the Norwegian camp a mere 24 hours after the movie. There Blake suspects one or more of your team mates are infected. The enamies range from small things called scuttlers like the Norries head. These can be dispatched with small arms fire but with the larger creatures they must be injured then burnt after to stop them. Weapons range from pistols, machine guns, shotguns, flamethrowes and explovies. The combat also effects the difficulty. Your giving a wide range cone on an easier level while its harder when the cone is smaller and your fire field is smaller.

The other aspects of that game that are cool are the fear and trust management sysetem. If your team mate is afraid you need to calm them and if you do odd things and hurt other team mates and you could have a coup on your hands if they think your the Thing.

The downside to team elements selecting your team mates and arming them as the A.I at the time was not up to top notch. Example you could give your team mate a flame thrower to kill the thing beast while you hit it also with the shotgun. However this fool could fuck off into another room and hide of cry. Also another niggle if your team mate has been normal or if you even tested them with a blood kit and their fine you come to a boss battle their going to turn into the thing. That got to me a bit but still a minor niggle.

The voice cast is amazing Perr Sollie does a wicked turn as the grizzled but also cool Captain Blake. X-files William B Davis does the voice of the shady Colonel Whitley and none other then the main man John Carpenter lends both his likeness and voice to Dr Faraday.

A fun and intresting game that takes a while to get used to and if your a fan of the Thing its a must.

An Important Christmas message

Remember folks an alien imitation dog isnt just for Christmas! Its for a life time....no really that fucker can last about tens of millions of years in the Tundras Ice....you've been warned.

John Carpenters the Thing.

I remember staying up late watching this wicked flick on Tv3 when I was a young lad. Its was action packed  ,gory  and packed with suspenseful  but what got me was the alien. It wasent just one creature like the xenomorph or Predator its was anything it wanted to be.I picked it up on VHS years later and my love for the movie grew. John Carpenters the Thing was a remake of the 50's movie from Howard Hawks the Thing from another world with itself is an adaption of John W. Campbell book Who goes there?

Hawks for his movie dropped the shape shifting aspect of creature for a more B-movie monster. Carpenter loved the concept and made it the focal point of his movie. What if your trapped in a place, isolated and those around you are not as they seem.

Set in the Antartic in the winter of 1982 at a U.S research station 31 the movie plonks us into the action in a what the fuck moment when a dog is chased in to the camp buy what would seem to be stir crazy Norwegians. Shit goes from bad to worse resulting in some of the U.S outpost traveling to the Norwegian base and finding that some very crazy shit took place there. They return and some realise that some people are not what they seem. This plays out paranoia and suspense like nobodies business. The men soon turn on each other and one buy one the team is picked off either buy the creature or the men them selves.

This is one of my top fave movies of all time, The acting is wicked, the music is amazing but what else would you expect from Ennio Morricone, the effect while not as flashy today a still the fucking bomb. Rob Bottin should have gone on to do bigger things...no pun intened. This was John Carpenter at his A game and yet another great collabortation with the ever awesome Kurt Russel as McReady. The Ending of the movie is fantastic...It makes you wonder who came out on top.

The ending along with the fact this movie came out in 82 the same time as a friendly alien called E.T showed up did cause issues for its success and the film didnt do well at all. Over the years it found a massive cult following spawning a video game, a range of comic books and a prequel movie in 2011 but more about them later.

So if your like me and your a huge Sci-fi and horror fan .....you need to see this movie...its mandatory and if you dont think so well then "You gotta be fucking kidding!"

Interview with concept artist Aga Romańska

Im chatting to the uber talented concept artist and sci-fi enthusiast and Alien fan .
((she's got a pet chestburster)) Aga Romańska

Martin: What age were you when you say your first Alien movie and which was it?

Aga: I think I was about 6 or 7 when I saw the first Alien Movie and it was literally the first one, from 1979.Was mentally scarred only for a few years.

Martin: Which charater of the Aliens franchise was your favorite and why?

Aga:  I would say Ripley, for a few reasons. One was, she surprised everyone that a woman played a main character. Two, she's completely badass, not ever breaking down, even when she's been stuck with the Alien for 3 movies. Three, she fought the Queen in a fucking mech.

Martin: Which of the Aliens franchise was your favorite and why?

Aga: I have a dilemma between the first and the third movie. I would say, the Alien storyline is my favourite, but the editing in Alien 3 is great, along with the colour palette. Yup, still can't decide.

Martin: Where would you like to see the Alien franchise go considering the mess that was Prometheus?

Aga: Honestly? I don't think any more films should be made. I think it's best to leave it alone, before any more overly ambitious directors ruin it that bit more. The trilogy is perfect as it is (I'm not gonna aknowledge Resurrection). There is a time when one just has to say ''stop''. However, I would be happy to see more Alien themed games. I've yet to play Alien: Isolation.

Martin:Has parts of the sci-fi series has influnanced your art ?

Aga: Unfortunately, no. I've drawn plenty of Alien fanart, but when it comes to my original work, I'm not inspired by it. However, in the future I would like to experiment more with the theme, maybe mix it into my character designs. It would be a bit of a challenge, but I think it'd prove to be interesting.

Book Review: The Alien Archive

I recently purchased a tomb of Alien info called the Alien Archive. This books covers all four movies and is a wealth of Alien concept art used and unused, set photos, insider info and interviews.
The opening chapter is an interview with Sigourney Weaver on how working on these movies and playing Ripley had a prefound effect on her life.
Later sections show case the amazing work of Ron Cobb and Syd Mead and their wonderful concpets for Alien and Aliens.
You get a look at the unused idea's for Vincent Ward's Bosch like wooden planet and idea for what the Runner alien may have looked like. Hell even the Alien Resurrection stuff is wicked to look at. The concept art and design was wicked.
The down side is there very little written about the movies but a whole lot of wicked photos and art work do make up the bulk of this beast. Good thing or bad thing.....I'll leave that up to you.

Not lying this book was steep setting me back €45 but if your an hardcore Alien fan like myself you should own a copy of this book.

Did the Alien rape Lambert?

So one of the most disputed and controversial theory in the Alien movie lore is the suggested rape of the other female crew member Lambert. There are a number of things that point to the fact she was indeed violated buy the xenomorph. First off the creature itself. If it was indeed able to savagely impregnate a man think of what the beast could do to a female human.

The noise's Lambert made over the intercom sounded vile and made one think her death was long and painfull.

Another point is the tail going between her legs, fact is that Bretts legs scott just reused the scene to symbolise what was going to happen.

When Ripley finds Parker and Lambert. Lamberts nude body seems to be strung up and her bloodly legs exposed.

Game over man Review: Aliens Infestation

So in what mad world to a handheld game out do it console counter part...this one. While I do have a soft spot for it Aliens:Colonial Marines it was still a fucking uber let down. It was a sub par attempt at doing the Aliens movie on video game format yet at the same time Aliens Infestation was released for the DS and it rocked. The story goes along the same as Alien:CM. Your the rescue team for Hicks unit and you board the Sulaco and thats were the game parts from Aliens:CM. In this game they take elements from the expanded universe and even unused scripts. The main human foe is Wayland Yutani but the U.U.P (Union of Progressive Peoples) space commies for want of a better term. The U.U.P have harvested xeno's and are breeding them as weapons. So you gotta stoped them on both LV426 and their main base on Mars moon of  Phobos. The U.P.P soldiers are challange who like the player use a cover system. Theres also some robots who take a fair pounding.
The Alien enemies are wicked too. The Warrior Aliens sound like Aliens, they can attack from the ground wall and roof. But its not just warrior Aliens theres fucking GORILLA xeno's too. Thats right Kenner style baby...these are tough motherfuckers and even have a pretorian version. You fight a number of Queen boss's and a Jockey xeno...and no no that fucking Deacon.
Game play is old school side shooter with a great range of weapons which can be upgraded...the shotgun being the best. Playing this is like playing Contra on PCP. You can also use vehicals such as the powerloader and APC
Your giving a roster of 16 characters to use and each has his own personality. The game also makes great use of the botton screen and stylus using it to active switchs, weld things, select thing and bring up the map. The bottom screen also has this wicked little mine game based on the Bishop knife trick where you gotta stab the stylus between the fingers of the hand on screen as fast as you can in a selected order.

I cant tell you enough how awesome this game is and at the end of the day if your an Aliens fan and you have a DS you need to buy this game.
Now to try and plow through Alien Isolation without browning my pants so I can review it for you good people.

Dark Horse Comic review: Aliens series one to three

So after the release of Aliens Darkhorse picked up the comic rights to the franchise and made series which picked up 10 years after the events of Aliens and left us with a scared Hicks and and an emotionally scared Newt. The comics written buy Mark Verheiden were dark edgy and got the vibe off the movies right off and then some expanding the universe 10 fold. Then in 1992 Alien3 came out and in an effort to remain in line with fox continuity They changed Hicks to Wilks and Newt to Billie when the books were reprinted. You can if your lucky still get early editions where the named are changed. For this review Im going to keep the movie names and give you the title of the collected graphic novels.

Aliens Book one: Outbreak
Taking place some 10 years after Aliens the story begins with a deep space salvage crew encountering a xeno on board wrecked ship and is slaughtered. Hicks who has been in and out of the USCM stockade due and bars because of been shunned from the other marines is brought to the high brass. He told they used the info from the attacked ship to find the xenomorph homeworld. Before he goes he decides to vist Newt and learns she's going to be lobotomized. Rather then let that happen to her he smuggles her onboard the ship for the mission. Meanwhile a rival company to Wayland-Yutani bring backs an infected crew member of the salvaged ship and cause's a wide spread outbreak on earth.
Mark Neilson art style has dated badly and the story is kinda all
over the place. While not shit its not the best its not too bad either
so if your a fan check it out.

Aliens Book two: Nightmare Asylum
Taking place after Hicks and Newt escape a now infested earth one to land on a planet ruled buy a power mad General Spears who breeds xeno's with a mad scheme to train them and use them to take back earth. This of course makes Hicks relise that Spears is nuts. Spears while weary of them keeps them alive because their experience of the bugs.Newt still comes to terms wth the loss of her lover she had in the first book and Hick trys to lead an uprising to stop Spears plan.

This book is wicked..the story wicked, the action wicked...the art work buy Den Beauvais fantastic.
This is a vast improvement from the the last book. and is a must for an Aliens fan.

Aliens book three: Female War
So after Spears attempt failed which causes Ripely to come out of hiding joining up with Hicks and Newt and formulates a plans to lure the high Queen to one city drawing the rest of the hive and nuking it.
Ripley's departure and absence is explained well and does make a number of nods to the movies. He relationship is with Newt is strained and Hicks doesnt trust her which is far more intresting then the main story.
The art work buy Sam Keith who worked on Sandman and while intresting I did not think it was ideal for the story. With a silly plot and odd set of stylized art work it not the most impressive of the books but still needed for completion sake for an Aliens fan.

So if your going start collecting comics those three books are a good starting point. All three can be found in Aliens Omnibus volume one.

Ridley does what Ripley could not....killing the Alien!

So the final nail in the cinematic existence of the xenomorph was hammered in today when Scott made it clear their would be no xenos appearing in Prometheus 2 or 3 or any other movies in that universe for that matter. Now I like many people were let down with Prometheus but the thing that kept me clinging on was the explanation of the existence of the xeno in the next movie and not to think the creature which appeared at the end was indeed the starbeast its self.  The Story will focus more on the Jockeys....well thats cool and all but I was always told ne school to finish one fucking maths question before moving on to another......what he did was give a wrong fucking answer and hoped no one would notice.....well we fucking did.

Dont get me wrong I see whats he means buy staying theres not much he can do with it but still for fuck sake at least give us a bit more then a third rate cocktease at the end of the movie with a wicked looking rod puppet.

Christ I hope Alien Isolation is good or Im going to be a SAD fucking Panda.

For more infor on this clusterfuck check out this site here. http://spinoff.comicbookresources.com/2014/09/25/ridley-scott-has-had-enough-of-aliens-iconic-xenomorph-that-beast-is-done/
Cheers to Char for supplying me with the info.

Interview with Adam Smith creator of the Wayland- Yutani Archives site

The following is an interview with the wicked Adam Smith creator of the epic Aliens fan site The Wayland Yutani Archives.

Martin: Which of the Aliens franchise was your favorite and why?

Adam: I always struggle with this one mainly because I cannot just pick one Alien movie.  I love the first three Alien movies equally as all three movies are masterpieces.  I still class the series as a Trilogy.

Martin:Who's your favorite character from the movies.

Adam: Parker.  When I first watched Alien he was the first character I related to as he reminded me of a couple of people  I knew who were older than I.  That gave me my first sense of realism in the film.  Even while growing up and in various job's there was always a Parker type of character there.  Yaphet Kotto absolutely nailed that part.

Martin: Where would you like to see the Alien franchise go considering the mess that was Prometheus?

Adam: Well to be honest, they should just leave the series alone. It ended with Alien 3 and should have stuck with that. Ever since Alien Resurrection I've had nothing but disappointment.

Martin:
What prompted you to create your alien blog?

Adam: Back in 1997/98 my former friend of mine and I began working on a web site called 'The Weylan-Yutani Files'. The site was constructed with Yahoo Geocities and was to be about the filmed and unfilmed scenes from the first three movies. A lot of research went into it. Not long after the site was published me and my friend had a fall out. He changed the password to the site and removed it. All my research material gone. In 2009 I spoke to an old friend who mentioned the old site and said I should try again. So, I discovered blogger and started work. Instead of just focusing on deleted material I began adding other things no matter how small. Personally I'm not happy with it, but I still keep it regardless.

You can check out more from Adam on this awesome site here. http://weyland-yutaniarchives.blogspot.ie/

Alien vs Predator ten year anniversary Blue Ray review

So its been ten years since the big disappointment of this movie hit me. When I first saw it in the cinema my brain was making excuse's for the movie. It was bloodless and had cardboard characters. Sure the scope was grand and it took some wicked elements from the comics and other movies but it was still and epic let down.
Regardless I bought the special edition DVD but I still had major issues with the uncut version. So after 10 years and watching the uncut version in high definition is it any bit better. Does the movie deserve a 2nd chance.

Well there one or two extra scenes with team before the entering the temple....it flesh's them out slightly mainly the merc's and Max Straford. They also added digital blood and gore. In some scenes it works in others it can tell been done with computer. As when it first came out the effects and set pieces a top notch and the ADI work shop was on the top of the game with the creatures and monsters. While the predators still look like linebacker footballers their still its an awesome design and the look of the xeno's had improved from their messy shitty color scheme in Alien Resurrection.

So do I still think the movie has gotten better over time....no christ no but I do think its not as bad as people myself included once siad it was.  I still think the movie is still way off the mark but its only real sin is it's an action/adventure rather then a horror/sci-fi and setting it on present day earth was the last nail in the coffin.

Is Vickers a robot.

Theres a lot of questions a theories about Prometheus but one that is only hinted at but one I strongly believe. Meridith Vickers is an android. Here's a few hints and reasons why she could be one.

**Spoilers ahead**

One Vickers is first out of the cyro pods and displayed no adverse effects of the sleeping pods in fact she was more the capable do exercise's and give direct orders to David.
Later when she confronts David in the hall way about their "father" she tackles him with ease considering he himself is an android which means she could only have strength equal to his making her a robot.
Also she claims to be Wayland's daughter who at the time of Prometheus events was 108 which would make him late 60's early 70's when she was conceived and while this is not unlightly still seems some what bizarre that someone would sleep with a crusty old guy billionaire or not.
She also displays a cold and distant personality which makes many of the crew questions her humanity even Janek asks her out right if she's a robot to which only offers to sleep with him not saying yes or no.
So there you have it....I'm convinced.

It Figures.....revenge of the nerd!

So being an super AVP nerd its no shock Ive a hell of a lot of Aliens and Predator stuff. Ill show you a mere tip of the ice burg below.
So yeah in front Marcus from Gears of war theres a Kenner Alien Queen which I got when I was 11.
Next to it is this wicked little Alien Resurrection model my friend got me, Behind that is an AVP playset from the 2004 movie my mate John gave me and behind them are two special editions of Aliens vs Predator which came with a facehugger and some patchs and Aliens Colonial Marines which while not a great game came with a wicked statue. Both for the Xbox.

That winged monster is the other Kenner flying Alien queen I also got when I turned 11 and next to that is a wicked Alien bobble head I got for my 21st. Its from Neca so the detail on it is wicked.

So on one side I got Predators and the other I've Aliens....and a terminator with poor John lock stuck in the fucking middle. Guess he really is LOST ((Im so so sorry))
So the AVP elder predator with the blue hair and The City Hunter with the brown mask are McFarlene and the Wolf and the classic along with the Predators Hound is Neca.
The Xeno's I got unboxed include the Runner on all fours which is a McFarlene along with the AVP Alien and the Hicks....who mold wont let him hold his pulse rifle right. The Predalien is Neca and is a bastard to stand even with the fucking base.

So that just a taste of my collection. I do intend to show you more including comics, novels and games.

Amanda Ripley

With the release of Alien Isolation coming up I've decided to do a fairly basic profile on the daughter of Ellen Ripley and the hero of the up coming Creative Assembly game.

Her mother conceived her during a layover between haulage trips, which was counter to company policy, although she was not disciplined for her indiscretion and the pregnancy was allowed to come to term and Amanda was delivered in a home birth, in the presence of Ripley's husband. She was still a child when her mother disappeared following the loss of the Nostromo.

As a result of her mother disappearance 15 years later, Amanda went looking for her which eventually lead her to Severtorpol  a decommissioned trading space station. Onboard, she encountered a xenomorph. She was able to escape the Drone and continued with her life according to Burke in Aliens.

Burke also informed Ripley that Amanda died at the age of sixty-six, two years before her mother's return fifty-seven years after her initial disappearance. Sometime before her death she married, taking the name 'McClaren', but had no children.

Side not in Aliens the photo Bruke Show's Ripely is actually Weaver mother Elizabeth Inglis who Creative Assembly used her likeness at the age of 25 for Amanda in the game. So in the Aliens universe Weavers mother plays her daughter.

Some more sites to check out if your an Alien fan.

Ive put this one down already but I gotta put it down again cause its such a good source for info.

Last but not least for fans of Retro PS1 alien action

The Drinking birds of the Alien series.

So fun fact Ripley isnt the only star to come back time and time again in the Alien movies and before anyone says anything.its not Bishop.

Its the drinky birds. In Alien their on the main mess hall table. In Aliens their Sulaco's mess hall and in Alien 3 their on Andrews desk. Maybe its some kinda of Wayland-Yutani tracking device or maybe its just some thing they stocked at their gift shops....no matter it turns up in Alien Isolation too.

Those creepy fucking birds

Book Review: Alien Sea of Sorrows.

Well after reading Alien out of the Shadows I didnt think an Alien story could get much worse. Well....I was right. Sea of Sorrows isnt as bad as Out of the Shadows but still isnt without its issues.

((Spoilers Ahead))
While James A. Moore is a way better writer and story teller then Lebbon he suffer from an dreadful case of shoehorning element from the Alien movie franchise namely the character of Alan Decker.....the descendant of Amanda and Ellen Ripley.

This is a savage push at best. He does have around about way of explaining it.....along with the resurgence of Wayland-Yutani. Keep in mind this book is set 300 years after Alien Resurrection which makes it set a further 200 after Alien3. That would suggest that Wayland-Yutani had been biding their time for 500 years. Now while I and many fans hated the idea of the W-Y been bought out buy fucking "Wallmart" of all things the fact Moore decided to do it to please the fans or hassle from Fox in doing the book just felt so forced.
He also brings back atmosphere processors and The Colonial Marines who use pulse Rifles in some parts(yet another lost fan fave) This makes no sense to bring back an out dated army is one thing but bring back tech thats 500 years old in this books time line makes no sense. Its like us using steampower and flintlocks today.....its just kinda silly. Even when he does do fan service he gets it wrong like stating the Auriga crashed in France which was the case.....in the uncut edition of Alien Resurrection the transport ship the Betty with Ripley and Call landed in Paris France not the Auriga crashing into country. He does get some other minor things wrong and only if your a hardcore fan like myself would you notice.

That said Moore is a very good writer with both characters and tension both top notch. Alan Decker if you can look past his backround is a likeable guy along with some of the mercs. The latter part of the books is Decker blackmailed buy W-Y into joining some mercenaries in a misson to capture a live xenomorph on the same planet from Tim Lebbons book. Moore also does a great job of getting inside the Xeno hive mind and hunting pattern with reminded me of the Alien Resurrection movie novel but done a lot better here.

At the end of the day there just too many issues with James A. Moores Sea of Sorrow to ignore. Is it an shit Alien novel?....No. Its failing like Out of the Shadows it try's to connect its self two closely Alien movies. If you were to read S.D Perry's fantastic Aliens Dark Horse adaption novels they were their own stories that only every once and awhile referenced the movies but for the most part did do their own thing. Be it pressure from Fox or too eager to please fan boys Moore blew off his own foot with the ham fisted fan service which is a sham cause he really is a fantastic writer. If your a die hard fan pick it up but be prepared to pick it apart too.
On a funny side note Sea of Sorrows is the 2nd in a trilogy which as I mentioned is set 500 years after Alien while the next River of Pain is set in that Aliens time line which leaves me baffled on how their going to connect those books.

Monday 4 August 2014

10 reasons why Dwayne Hicks is awesome.

(1) Hes the only marine who didnt come across as cocky or have over bravado. Infact when things went to shit on LV-426 he kept his cool and along with Ripley constructed a fairly decent defence and battle plan. Hick was also able to sleep in the dropship ride to the planet showing how calm and relaxed he was.

(2) Hicks was so popular that Dark Horse comics made him their lead in the first line of Aliens comic books....set ten years after Aliens. However when Alien 3 came out they reprinted the books change Hicks to Wilks. However you can still get editions when his name was changed.

(3) In all the first drafts of the Aliens script Hicks was ment to die. It was only in the last script did he survivor.
(4)  Hicks backup weapon is Itchaca shotgun. This weapon was used in Vietnam war which was referenced alot in Aliens. He's classic line "I like to keep this handy...for close encoutners!" Has poped up not only in Aliens Games but call of Duty modren war and a whole bunch of others.

(5) Hicks is the first marine to notice the signs of the xenomorph attack on the Hadleys Hope He also has the balls to back Ripley up on Nukeing the site from Orbit. Showing that not only is he clam but quit clever as well.

(6) Hicks is the only marine who bothers to show not only concern but actual affection for both Ripley and Newt. This carried over on to director cut too when Ripley and Hicks exchange first names.

(7) In Aliens Colonial Marines It transpires that Hicks survived Alien 3. While a lot of fans were disgusted buy this change there was alot more who were happy that the marine survived and the fact the game is now considered canon makes it a solid chance he may make a come back into the Alien universe once agien.

(8)  Hicks has been made into an action figure five times...three buy kenner, once buy MacFarlene and once buy Neca Toys.

(9) Hicks is the only human to have survived been burnt buy acid. Christie Drowned and Murphy was diced.

(10)   Hicks is next to Ripley has one of the largest xeno kill counts.

Original Alien cast reunite for Alien: Isolation

So I was hyped about getting Alien Isolation but now I'm escstatic because most of the cast are returning for the video game Alien Isolation to lend both voices and likeness's . Details are still sketchy but it will be in the form of two parts of DLC. The First called Crew expendable will focus on the events just after Brett is killed in the hanger of the Nostromo and you can control either Dallas, Parker or Ripley who must lure the Alien to the air shafts.

The 2nd part of DLC is called Lone Survivor and play as Ripley as she trys to turn off the cooling tanks and blow up the ship all the while avoiding the "Big Chap".

That fact that Weaver and the rest of the cast are returning to lend this clout to a game is impressive and I for one can not wait.
For more about this DLC click the link
http://ie.ign.com/articles/2014/07/09/original-alien-cast-reunite-for-alien-isolation-dlc

Also big thanks to John Cullen for bringing this info to my attention.

Interview with awesome artiest and Aliens fan Josie Ann Marshall

Im interviewing Josie Ann Marshall one kick ass artiest from Uath and also a major action and sci-fi fan.

Martin: Which charater of the Aliens franchise was your favorite and why?

Josie: I like Ellen Ripley. I like her because she's a strong leader and always tries to say what she thinks and do the right thing. I love that she has a soft side too, but can also be tough as nails when need be. She was well written and seemed very organic.

Martin: Which of the Aliens franchise was your favorite and why?

Josie: I liked Aliens. I enjoyed the characters, plot, and Queen Alien. I enjoyed how the threat level went WAY up because in the first one there was 1 alien that wiped out the crew, now there were over 100 as most of the colonists were thought to have been hosts. I enjoyed the interactions between characters, the child being in danger and Ellen risking everything to save her, the budding romance, I enjoyed the end battle with the amazing Queen....It's just an awesome film on all levels, one I could pop in any day for a watch.

Martin: What was the scariest moment in the Alien movies for you?

Josie: Scariest part for me in Alien was when Newt and Ripley were standing amongst hundreds of eggs and low ammo.

Martin: Has anything from the movies ever influenced your art?

Josie: I've drawn a few pictures from the movie(s). I really enjoyed the Queen and have done a few pictures of her

Martin: Do you think the first two movies still hold today and if so why?

Josie: Yes. Well, the stories are awesome with likable and well written characters that play well off each other. The sets were awesome and I believed they were isolated in space...the practical effects on the aliens just blows my mind every time I watch the films.
